This vagus nerve reset is designed to relieve stress and anxiety by restoring the social engagement state referenced in Polyvagal Theory developed by Stephen Porges.
Vagus nerve exercises also turn off fight or flight in the sympathetic nervous system to release trauma stored in the body.

— Vagus Nerve Reset To Release Trauma From Your Body (Polyvagal Exercises) —
When it comes to trauma stored in the body, people usually ask me two questions.
The first is:
How do I know if I have trauma stored in my body?
The answer to that one is, you do. We all do. Trauma is a part of life and we’ve all got stuff.
(Even if you don’t remember it.)
It’s why our shoulders are tight and our backs ache. It’s why we get weekly massages and go to therapy.
It underlies most chronic health conditions and makes them worse.
Case in point:
Did you know that researchers have drawn a connection between experiencing racism and a higher prevalence of adult onset asthma for black women?
Trauma isn’t always about the Big Events. Yes, those count. Of course they do.
But so does having a distant mother (who likely had her own trauma).
Cultural shaming (hello women who were constantly told to be quiet, be small, not take up space).
Toxic work environments. Not being heard. Microaggressions.
And of course the ever prevalent accidents, injuries, falls out of trees and off horses, broken legs, cracked ribs, etc, etc, etc.
So, you’ve got some trauma. You don’t have to call it that, but it’s there, okay?
Now the second question: what do we do about it?
This is the part I love. SO MUCH of the conversation surrounding trauma in our culture boils down to understanding the narrative — what’s your story?
That’s important, BUT…
It doesn’t get to the biological roots. These parts of our bodies are up to 500 million years old and they frankly don’t give a flying unicorn fart about your story.
So that’s where I come in.
We can “talk” to these ancient parts of you — the parts where fear, stress and trauma are stored — through movement and sensation, which form the language of your nervous system.
And that’s what I’m showing you how to do in this video.
You can use this vagus nerve reset regularly any time you feel stressed, anxious or tense.
Be sure and leave me a comment to let me know how this vagus nerve reset went for you!

I got tingles in my legs then started laughing uncontrollably for a few second. After I was able to take deep breaths that felt so good
I am neurodivergent and I have dysautonomia, and I think my nervous system is a total mess, just genetically and from trauma (a lot of which is from ableism). One thing that I’m curious about is that when I have to go to the bathroom or at other times, like sometimes when I am stressed, I get this feeling that I can only describe as my teeth being itchy? 😂 or numb or tingly? And apparently it has to do with the vagus nerve! At least when it’s connected to your excretory system 😂
The left side of my body always has more tension…: In my neck right under my skull, shoulder, middle back, groin, knee and ankle. My left eye is also slightly lazy. It didn't make my left eye any better, but everything else felt instant relief, I feel way more balanced.
It made me see double looking to the side, which made me really uncomfortable, but still felt better when I was done
Wow, that worked really well. I was very dizzy while holding my eyes on each side, but my neck mobility greatly increased. I also feel lighter and my thoughts are no longer racing. I also yawned a lot after and feel I can actually go to bed and sleep well.
Okay, I want to start doing this. My question is, do I do this every day, or every other day, or once a week? Every two weeks or every month? How many times should I do this?
What happens in vagus . . .
my eyes feel jacked.
Very well explained and could feel the difference 👏👍🙏
I can trigger the yawn in 5-6 seconds. Is it a good thing to trigger so quickly?
I must say definatley skeptical when came across your vid, head turning left free as a bird head turning right like glass cutting into back of shoulder and crook of the neck (I have some body pain issues and recently also this horrible life stopping virtigo symptoms which the NZ western med system cant figure out im recieving TCM for this now and also been practicing TRE exercises). After doing this exercise with you, neck is 100% free on both sides with zero stretching or trigger point release. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge, is very much appreciated!!
instant carsickness and headache, great…it does ..something?
None of these symptoms are real trauma.
Thank you Sukie 🙏 Your explanation in combination with the exercise was very helpful to me (I'm 68 and having nervous disorder all my life) 💖
I don't have any trauma. What to do? How do I find?
The "lay in a field and watch the clouds" pose
I found my head wanting to turn to whatever side I looked. The left side had me sighing, the right was like holding my breath.
It was a little easier to to turn my head both ways afterwards.
OH MY GOD THIS IS SO HEALING THANKS SO MUCH for inventing retarded bogus exercices. You people are really embarassing. Try breathing in air or drinking water, it'll integrate all the trauma in your body and release all the pent up energy when you fart that's not released , my spiritual little finger told me it would.
First try got some small sighs and neck tension release. This is so helpful and simple. ❤
I felt like I was been submerged in water when I looked to the right and I was so scared.
Been yawning a lot after this exercise too.
Wow! It actually works and very effective. Thanks for sharing!🎉
🙄
Found this while doing a bunch of research into ways to activate the parasympathetic nervous system after it was uncovered in therapy that I am always in fight or flight due to a lifetime of trauma. Like most of the commenters here, I'm absolutely floored by how well this worked. Of course, the feeling of safety and calm only lasted a few minutes, but I know it will be a long road to get my brain to stay in that safe mode as its normal state. At least now I have another tool in my toolbox!
Wow…that really worked
It really works! 😲 Wow thanks ! 🙏
I found it very painful to hold my eyes to the left side. Why would that be ?
What is the purpose of doing a vagus nerve reset? Anyone? Thanks.
technique begins: 1:21
Interesting!
Complete BS
I feel a little dizzy, nauseous, and now have a bubbly stomach. I wonder why?
